How do I start training?

There are opportunities to train in several metro areas around the country and in Canada, but most folks find the TrainAtHome program to be their best fit.

How can I train at home?

The CommonDefense video training program guides the beginning student through several phases of training that builds the practice mechanisms into a martial lifestyle that allows busy Americans to practice self defense principles to instinctive response, should self defense ever become necessary, or unavoidable.

Who is the founder?

Steve Gartin began formal martial training in 1973 in Kodiak, Alaska with Sensi Les Kelso in the art of Tae Kwon Do Mu Du Kwon.  In 1976 Mr. Gartin began training in the Family System of the de Thouars Dutch/Indonesian martial arts.  The CommonDefense incorporates health and self defense training into an easily learned system of physical defense.
